Docent Admissions Consulting

Your guide to strategic
college admissions.

No, really — you don't have to go it alone. That's literally what a docent is for.

Rebbecca Kaplan, PhD

An Introduction

Hi. I'm Rebbecca Kaplan, PhD.

And no joke, I spent nearly 20 years in college. Not as a student the whole time, I promise. I spent over ten of those years in leadership roles on the Emory University Office of Undergraduate Admission and Goizueta Business School MBA Admissions teams. (I was also, literally, raised on university campuses. Ivory tower and all.)

Lucky for you, I've taken really good notes.

As your admissions docent — guide, not guru — I use everything I've learned on the other side of the table to shepherd you through a strategic, organized, and true-to-you application process.

Lesson Plans

Let's make a plan.

Docent tailors every engagement to you — wherever you are in the process.

Essay Plan

Essay Plan

The personal essay is just that: personal. It's where you get to tell the story of who you are, in your own words, for a captive audience. It should be original, creative, thoughtful, and appropriately funny — just like you. No pressure, right? Docent breaks the whole thing into three manageable parts: pre-writing, writing, and revising. Armed with Stanford Design Thinking methodologies and an insider's view of what admissions readers actually want, we work until your voice — not some polished, unrecognizable version of it — is the one that comes through.

Interview Plan

Interview Plan

Take a deep breath. Repeat after me: the admissions interview is just a conversation. An important conversation, sure. But just a conversation. Docent walks you through Stanford Design Thinking exercises to craft your story, STAR storytelling to organize your thoughts, and a full mock interview with real feedback. Oh — and insider tips about what admissions committees are actually hoping to hear. (Did I mention I've built a career on exactly that?)

Undergraduate Plan

Oh, the places you'll go. You may not know it yet, but you're about to embark on one of the biggest adventures of your life. It's only natural to feel nercited — that very real combination of nervous and excited. No matter if you're a freshman just starting to explore or a senior in the thick of it, Docent guides you through a strategic, stress-reduced, true-to-you path to college. Because who wants to feel nercited when you could just feel, well, excited?
